It was a long time ago, when I was at school, and of course I didn’t really know what was happening, but it was a new experience, very nice. I

It was just a girl that lived around the corner, and we used to do things together, which is what it’s all about. I think it’s being able to relate to somebody, to enjoy their company, to share doing things, to have the same interests, and just to make the most of life as it is, and sometimes it can be a challenge, and sometimes it works really well, and when it works well, then it’s a great spot to be in.

Sylvia; I have no idea whatsoever. No idea (what happened to her).

What happened last year was an old girlfriend that I hadn’t seen for 40 years came out to Auckland, and it was quite a strange experience, not having spoken to her, not having heard how her life went. She came out here for two weeks, and we had a lovely time, just talking about our past, our history, when we were a couple in the late ‘60s, and it was really good. So, that sort of experience is often really nice to have.

The walking group is a group of people who like to walk. We don’t have a membership. We’re not formal in any way. We just turn up Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9AM in the morning. We have a couple of rules about walking together, especially if we’re going up the mountain because we sadly had one of our members pass away when we were at the top of the mountain last year. So, we’re very careful about walking in couples and just taking care of each other, but the walking fraternity is really neat, and we socialise together quite a lot, as well.

I was born in Wales, in the UK, and I’ve been here in Auckland for 44 years. I really enjoy the atmosphere in New Zealand. Although having said that, I’m leaving Auckland in three weeks’ time. No, two weeks’ time, but yeah it’s a nice place to be in, and I appreciate the weather, the people, the environment, and I enjoy taking part in it.”
